ENGLISH SPEAKING ACTING INTENSIVE WORKSHOP. In this intensive workshop environment, actors are given tools to unpack character, text and language whilst focussing these skills in a practical sense on a scene or monologue. Explorations into Stanislavski techniques and basic Laban from beginners thru to experienced performers gives a solid starting point to approach the work of acting. Stage craft and vocal techniques are essential for the actor to feel comfortable onstage and to communicate with his/her audience, this workshop directly addresses basic stagecraft, allowing the actor to instinctively find positions of strength and use them to advantage.

 

Kevin Hopkins has been an actor in film, TV and theatre for 25 years and has worked as an ensemble member and director for the Australian Shakespeare Company in Melbourne for 18 years, he has also been teaching acting for 10 years. As a working actor and director he understands the needs of the actor, and focuses on creating a supportive, safe environment in which actors can feel free to make mistakes, and take risks. Kevin has also trained in outdoor theatre which specifically requires clarity of gesture and intention, along with vocal projection.

 

In May 2014, Kevin is coming to Prague to run a week long acting intensive, which will culminate in filming of material suitable for reels, and give English speaking actors an opportunity to engage in an intense exploration into their craft.
